ROLE DESCRIPTION

Role Title: Volunteer Counsellor

Where: Online from home

Hours: Minimum 1.5 - 3 hours per week (1-2 clients), flexible

Salary: Voluntary position

The Offload Project is a brand spanking new community interest company offering low cost, long term counselling to residents of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. We recognise that through no fault of their own, the NHS and third sector don’t always have capacity to help everyone, all the time. We also know that private therapy is often financially inaccessible. So we decided to bridge the gap in order to improve the mental health and prosperity of our community. Because everybody deserves help if they want it - not just those with a mental health diagnosis, and not just those on a high salary.

So! To make this happen, we’re seeking out some kind hearted, eager souled counsellors to volunteer for us! As a volunteer counsellor, you’ll be an absolutely vital part of our team, working alongside other dedicated pros to help make a real difference to the community.

Volunteering for Offload is a fab opportunity if you fancy developing your skills, or refreshing them if you’ve taken some time out of the counselling game. Support will initially take place online or via telephone, with a face to face option becoming available in 2023 (don’t worry though, if you start online, you won’t be required to come into the office if you can’t or don’t want to). As a volunteer, you’ll be asked to donate your time 1.5-3 hours per week (1 or 2 clients). Whilst our service is aimed at residents of Nottingham(shire), you don’t have to be from here to help out - the more the merrier!

We don’t expect you to come in blind with no support though! By volunteering at The Offload Project, you’ll receive full support from our team – including line management, invitations to team meetings, training and professional development opportunities.

If you’re a resilient, enthusiastic and personable counsellor who is able to work with initiative and demonstrate flexibility, get in touch! Prospective volunteers should have a commitment to personal and professional development, an understanding of the BACP ethical framework and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum L4 Diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy (essential)

  • Membership of BACP or equivalent (essential)

  • Able to make a time commitment of 1.5-3 hours per week (essential)

  • Access to a laptop or desktop computer with strong internet access (essential) and webcam/mic functionality (desirable)

  • Own professional indemnity insurance (desirable)

  • Committed to attending line-management/team meetings, training and professional development sessions when necessary (essential)
